City of Vancouver Extends Street Cleaning Grant with Nearly $3 Million of Funding

Vancouver City Council has approved nearly $3 million in funding over the next three years for Mission Possible to continue a supplemental street-cleaning and low-barrier employment program in the Downtown Eastside. 

The funding will support street cleaning duties allocated across areas of Downtown Vancouver such as micro-cleaning which involves picking up litter and needles on foot as well as pressure washing and community outreach.

The 2025 street cleaning grant funding had the following impacts: 

  • 26,700 used needles collected from the Downtown Eastside.
  • 17,400 bags of litter collected. 
  • 240 Vancouver Street Blocks Pressure Washed by MP Maintenance.
