What We Accomplished Together at MP Community Clean Up Day 2025!

What We Accomplished Together at MP Community Clean Up Day 2025!

On Saturday, June 8, something special happened in the Downtown Eastside.

Mission Possible hosted our Community Clean Up Day, an opportunity for neighbours, volunteers, and local businesses to come together and care for our shared streets! Despite the rain, our community showed up in full force. In total, over 90 people came out to the event, including 63 volunteers, 12 staff, and 15 Mission Possible associates. Together, we collected 60 bags of litter across 5 community routes in just a few hours. It was a powerful reminder that small, intentional acts can spark big change.

And the impact is tangible. Together, we raised over $29,400 to support our Employment Readiness Program, which helps people in our community build confidence, gain work experience, and move toward meaningful, sustainable employment.

We also had the opportunity to hear the stories of Janice and Sven, who courageously stood in front of the audience and shared their journey of how Mission Possible has impacted their lives.

Before joining Mission Possible, Janice dedicated her time to caring for others and ultimately stopped caring for herself. As she continues to heal from heart surgery, she found Mission Possible to be an accommodating and supportive environment for her to return to work. She now feels stronger than ever, working up to 4-5 shifts a week, and looks forward to securing a job in elder care.

Sven struggled with his addiction but on his road to recovery, he found Mission Possible. While on the Clean Team, he learned the importance of connecting to the community. When he found his footing again, he began supporting others in their recovery journey, eventually leading him to a role in Mission Possible's Peer Support Program.
