Investing in the Community: Strand

Investing in the Community: Strand

Strand, a Vancouver-based finance, development, and investment company, was founded 46 years ago, and has been a Gold Partner at the Mission Possible Gala for the last several years. Led by President Mike Mackay, son of the original founder, Strand focuses on real estate finance and development throughout Metro Vancouver and the United States.

Giving back is one of the Mackay family’s core values. As expressed by Mike, a quote that has driven the company’s desire to give back to its community is, “For of those to whom much is given, much is required.” Having grown up in a family that was heavily involved in supporting local charities and community organizations, some of Mike’s most rewarding experiences have been through his volunteer work, including Mission Possible’s Power Breakfast. As such, it is incredibly important to Mike that Strand continues this legacy.

Strand has always aimed to help those that are local to where they build and operate and understands where the need lies within its communities. In recent years, and particularly since the onset of the pandemic, Strand has deepened their resolve to be supportive through difficult times. “The call for community support is needed, now more than ever,” says Strand’s Director of Marketing and Sales, Mia Boorman.

At Mission Possible, we are incredibly grateful to have had Strand’s support since 2018. When asked what motivates Strand to continue to support this organisation, Mia noted that “Our team is passionate when we are able to see the real impact of our efforts through the organizations we team up with.” They see the direct impact of our work and take pride in the support of Mission Possible’s associates, which is one of Strand’s favourite parts about working with us.

Without partners and supporters like Strand, we would not be able to help as many people on their path towards a sustainable livelihood through our Employment Readiness Program. We are so thankful for their generosity and kind words, and we can’t wait to see what more we can accomplish in 2021 by coming together!

The Mission Possible Gala is the largest fundraising event of the organization, both in scope and funds raised. The success of the gala is crucial to our fundraising and awareness efforts of our organization. This year’s event is taking place on December 1, 2021. If you wish to become a partner of this event, donate items for our silent or live auction, or to find out more about how to get involved, contact development@mission-possible.ca.
