A Conversation with Andrew on the Importance of MP's Trucks

A Conversation with Andrew on the Importance of MP's Trucks

Andrew is Mission Possible's Property Maintenance Coordinator, and has been eager to provide some insight into why vehicles are crucial to our team, and what the impacts of it will be on our programming.

Brianna: Why does Mission Possible need to grow its vehicle fleet right now?
Andrew: We rely on our trucks, because they are an important part of the whole thing that we are doing here, you know? In order for people to be able to work, we need vehicles. So at this point, we have enough workers, but not enough vehicles. So every day we have to check in with the supervisors and make sure that everybody has the amount of trucks that they need for their team and work. Sometimes we have to pull a truck from one team and be down a vehicle because another team needs it. We need another vehicle to ease that pressure of coming in everyday and wondering if we have enough trucks to do the work. It is vital.

B: How many sites on average does one truck visit in a day?
A: Well, it depends. One truck can go to one site for one whole day, because it takes a couple days to do a job, but we also have small jobs that will take an hour and a half. I try to schedule one crew moving around for the day and they are probably doing six to eight jobs per day at different sites.

B: What impact will this truck have on the Employment Readiness Program and Mission Possible?
A: When I first started at Mission Possible, there were only two vehicles in the company, you know? And we then added a third and a fourth, we kept building and kept growing. And that's exactly why this vehicle is vital right now, because it's part of our growth. We’ve been getting more contracts for work, that puts more pressure on our vehicles and workers to keep up with all of that. I'm actually holding back on taking new contracts right now because my fear is that I can't live up to a client's expectations with our current resources. So the vehicle is part of that whole process of growth.

B: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: The impact that we have on a daily basis. You know, we go out and we see a dirty sidewalk, and we leave it clean. It's very powerful. It's huge. It's something that I had no idea would affect me long term when I first started here. But I've gotten to a place where it drives me here at Mission Possible. Also, the growth that I've had since I've been here, and the growth that I’ve seen in others who started on the Clean Team and are now Assistant Managers. It gives me goosebumps, because it's very impactful. And I didn't expect it to be that way. But I'm so happy that it is because I found a place that I feel like I belong.

B: What do you hope to accomplish with this vehicle?
A: I want to earn with that vehicle. I want to make sure that it earns and brings in more so that we can keep continuing on this steady road and making an impact.

Andrew works directly on the ground with associates in the community every day. He is constantly reminded about how important Mission Possible is to the community, and sees the urgency for us to meet the high demand for our programming.

If you or your company are interested in sponsoring a vehicle to help us expand our vehicle fleet, please get in touch with the Development Team at development@mission-possible.ca!
