Opening Up: Elsi’s Story
Elsi moved to Vancouver at five years old from El Salvador, and at six years old, she was adopted into a family as the youngest of five. Despite the...
Last week, we welcomed over 50 guests to our first-ever Open House, where we had a chance to celebrate, connect, and look ahead with the community that makes our work possible. Attendees included long-time supporters, new partners, MP Maintenance and MP Neighbours customers, Momentum Partners, and friends from across the Downtown Eastside.
The energy in the room was hopeful and forward-looking, filled with conversation about the journeys our participants take and the collective effort behind each step forward. We also shared highlights from our Fiscal Year 2025 (May 2024 – April 2025), a year filled with momentum and meaningful change. We’ll be sharing more detailed impact data in our upcoming Annual Report, so stay tuned for that in the months ahead.
This event would not have been possible without the generous support of Taseko Mines, our Open House Presenting Sponsor. Their commitment to Mission Possible continues to go far beyond this one day. Since 2023, Taseko Mines has supported our Employment Readiness Program through vital initiatives like our vehicle campaigns and events, walking alongside us every step of the way.
This year, their $35,000 donation is helping Mission Possible deepen our impact on the Downtown Eastside community as a Feature Partner of the 17th Annual Mission Possible Gala, vehicle sponsor, graduation sponsor and Impact Sponsor.
We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to KANVAS for supporting this event with delicious food. Their contribution helped fuel meaningful conversations, new connections, and a sense of celebration throughout the day.
This year’s Open House also marked the kickoff of our Planting Possibilities Auction, which closed on June 26, 2025, at 3 PM. We’re thrilled to share that we surpassed our fundraising goal of $5,000, raising a total of $6,623.
These funds will go towards our Employment Readiness Program, ensuring more people are supported with tools, training, and opportunity.
We’re deeply grateful to Taseko Mines, KANVAS, and every supporter who continues to stand alongside Mission Possible.
To everyone who attended, donated, bid, or cheered us on: thank you. Events like these remind us that we’re not in this work alone! We’re surrounded by a network of people committed to seeing others succeed.
