We are seeking a skilled and experienced Property Maintenance Supervisor to make a positive difference in Vancouver’s DTES. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the needs of the Property Maintenance team. You will also assist with conducting property maintenance services while managing a team of program participants, and ensuring the efficient, safe, and effective completion of client needs. Consequently, your expertise in landscaping and property maintenance needs along with strong leadership abilities, and dedication to delivering exceptional customer service will be key to the success of our team.
The Property Maintenance Supervisor will report to the Property Maintenance Manager. This role is team-based and will work alongside other MP Enterprise teams and other departments. Most work will take place outside of MP’s office, either on a driving or walking route. The Property Maintenance Supervisor will be expected to work in all weather conditions, including sun, rain, and snow.
Leadership
- Supervise and mentor a team of associates and technicians to perform top notch landscape and property maintenance services
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and a strong work ethic among the team
- Training: Provide training to technicians and associates in proper operation, maintenance, and repair of landscaping equipment. Teach and model skills such as time management and conflict resolution
- People Process: Assist the PM Manager in managing performance issues such as attendance and conflicts
- Conduct quarterly conversations and annual reviews with direct reports

Property Maintenance

Service Delivery: Drive teams to job sites and perform landscaping and property maintenance tasks as needed. Assess the job site to determine and communicate the most suitable actions necessary to complete the scope of work safely, efficiently, and on schedule

Admin: Assist the PM Manager and the Ops Admin Team with scheduling of services, ensuring timely response to service requests, efficient deployment of resources, and creating continuous improvement. Assist the Manager with maintaining timesheets on MP’s Payworks system.

Operations: Assisting the PM Manager by maintaining accurate records and generating reports as needed, including service statistics, customer feedback, and budget expenditures. Provide service quotes to customers

Inventory: Monitor and maintain inventory of landscaping supplies, equipment, and cleaning products, and ensure their availability and proper functioning
Quality Control: Conduct regular site inspections to assess the effectiveness of services delivered and report adjustments as needed

Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations, ensuring the proper use, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials
Customer Relationships

Provide exceptional customer service, including addressing client inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring client satisfaction

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, fostering repeat business and referrals

Actively identify and elevate opportunities to develop new client relationships for property maintenance services
Other duties as assigned by the Property Maintenance Manager
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Technical landscape knowledge (Lawn renos, planting, pruning, tree care)

Ability to demonstrate excellent work habits and deliver quality and efficient work

Great communication and conflict-resolution skills

Ability to work well independently and as a team member

Knowledge of DTES prevailing issues, including violence, mental health, substance use, unsafe living conditions, and access to supportive resources
Education and Experience

Leadership or supervisory experience

Certification or training in landscape and property maintenance services is an asset

Experience working in social services or a non-profit organization

Completion of or a willingness to complete: OFA1 first aid, Mental Health First Aid, Overdose Prevention and Response, Trauma Informed Practice training

Experience working in the DTES community is an asset

Or the equivalent combination of related skills and experience
