ABOUT THE JOB
Position type: Contract; Part-Time (20 hours per week)

Role Summary:
Mission Possible is launching a two-year employment project to prepare and train participants as Peer Support Workers. The project aims to support participants to transition successfully into entry-level roles in social services, health, and community services in the wider community. The Peer Support Project Coordinator (PSC) will work with the Project Manager to train and empower associates at Mission Possible to carry out this project. The PSC will work with the Project Manager to coordinate this project, deliver training, and provide support to associates on a day-to-day basis.
Working Conditions:
This role is a combination of office-based work and off-site visits to different organizations or placement sites to provide support to project participants.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist the Project Manager with the orientation of new hires for the program
- Assist the Project Manager to implement improvements and facilitate workshops relevant to peer support worker roles and responsibilities
- Checking in with program participants and visiting different placement sites as needed
- Support with participant onboarding for work experience
- Assisting the Project Manager track participant hours.
- Lead and participate in bi-weekly check-ins with program participants
- Assist with communications about the project within and outside MP, and sharing updates with partners in the community
- Support the Project Manager with tracking key metrics for reporting purposes
- Ensure all shift-related duties, reporting, and tasks are completed in a fashion that aligns with the code of conduct and policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Provide support, mentorship and demonstrate professionalism to the Peer Support Worker Training team on duty
- Ensure a culture of momentum that encourages and empowers individuals to make positive movement toward work and employment stability.
- Engage in weekly 1-1 supervision meetings with the Special Project Manager
- Other duties as assigned by the Special Project Manager
Key Areas (Specifics):
- Hiring and orientation - Supporting with scheduling and coordinating interviews for potential program participants.
- Scheduling - Assisting with organizing and sharing training schedules with program participants.
- Facilitation - Supporting the program manager in facilitating peer support training modules and ensuring training materials are available for participants.
- Program Training - tracking attendance and providing reminder calls to program participants, highlighting gaps and researching additional training needs
- Internship Support: Checking in with participants, placement supervisors and supporting bi-weekly check ins.
ABOUT YOU

- A proven ability to demonstrate professionalism, respectful workplace conduct, and alignment with Mission Possible’s core values
Education and Experience:
- Experience working in outreach, social services, or a non-profit organization as an employee or a volunteer
- Facilitation, teaching, or training experience
- Experience working in the Downtown Eastside community is an asset
- De-escalation training, naloxone training, and First Aid Certificate are an asset
