Here is an update on how the The Cleanest Day of the Year went on Saturday, June 11th.
Not only did we have almost 100 people of all ages (and 1 cat) attend, but we removed more than 40 bags of litter from the streets of Vancouver in just one hour!
We have also alreadyraised over $55,000!
As you can see, this was a very successful kick-off to our summer-long Clean Team Heroes Campaign, as we aim to raise $150,000 to support 30 people in starting, and finishing, Mission Possible's Employment Readiness Program by Labour Day 2022.
Mission Possible CEO Matthew Smedley began the Official Welcome by reminding everyone the reason they showed up on a Saturday at 9 am: to help residents of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside experience a renewed sense of dignity and purpose through meaningful work.
Clean Team Heroes of all ages collected their supplies, donated by the City of Vancouver, before heading out and ridding Vancouver's streets of more than 40 bags of litter!
Great job, Strand team! 20 bags of litter is no small feat!
As you can see, our summer-long Clean Heroes Campaign is off to an incredible start and there's still plenty of time to help us reach our $150,000 goal by Labour Day 2022.
Together, we really can create lasting change in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
