Position Summary:
The Deputy Director gets to empower the life-changing systems and operations of a unique and forward-looking community economic development agency.  Through administration of the resources, including people, finances and facilities, the Deputy Director will continue to deepen the impact that Mission Possible is making in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.

Position Type: 
Full-time, salary

Compensation:

  • $70k - 90k per year, commensurate on experience

Reports to: Executive Director

Responsibilities:

  • Operations
    • Assist the Executive Director in daily duties, including scheduling, email screening, and providing support with administrative tasks
    • Aid the Director of Opportunities to ensure safe, on time, on spec, and on budget delivery of MP Enterprises services objectives
    • Support the Manager of Administration in ensuring effective information management across all aspects of the organization
    • Assist the Executive Director to ensure facilities are maintained and arising issues are resolved in a timely fashion
    • Monitor inventory, control, and procurement of office supplies and equipment
    • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
  • People
    • Recruitment, hiring and performance management of a small team
    • Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence for all staff
    • Assist the Executive Director to ensure that all human resources issues are dealt with and records are up to date
  • Strategy
    • Working in partnership with the Executive Director/CEO, support in the creation and execution the strategic objectives of Mission Possible
  • Finance
    • Assist the Executive Director to ensure financial and accounting standards are being followed and databases are up to date
    • Assist with bookkeeping and banking transactions as needed

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of related experience, non-profit experience an asset
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a demonstrated passion for empowering the people you work with
  • Comfortable with numbers; an ability to read financial statements will go a long way for you in this role
  • Adaptable and flexible; things can change and you are able to roll with it
  • Organized with an ability to act on various competing priorities
  • Positive demeanor and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of BC Employment Standards and employee development strategies
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
  • Degree in related field preferred
