2024 Women's Track Personal Development Summit

Written by Brianna Mau | Feb 29, 2024

First held in October 2020, the annual Women’s Personal Development Summit started as a way to bring women together to celebrate and learn. This month, eleven women and non-binary people gathered at The Garden Strathcona to participate in three carefully chosen workshops that focused on personal and professional growth. Vancouver Art Therapy Initiative led attendees through an intuitive vision board session, Employ to Empower helped them discover business ideas, and Family Services of Greater Vancouver gave useful tips on budgeting and goal setting.

This year's response from the participants was overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating the importance of holding space for women to connect. People enjoyed the training, finding the sessions helpful for their personal growth. Events such as these help Women’s Track participants feel taken care of and empowered by each other and their community, and teach skills to steward these positive experiences within themselves.

Mission Possible's Employment Readiness Program - Women’s Track creates a safe space for women and non-binary people to engage in the program. This project was developed to eliminate barriers and empower women and non-binary folks in usually male-dominated spaces. The Women’s Track program aims to foster a stronger sense of community and safety for participants, and all work shifts and coaching sessions in this track are facilitated by women staff and supervisors. The participants will also have an opportunity to engage in unique programming, like the Personal Development Summit, designed to increase confidence and empower them to thrive and lead in the workplace.
