Clean Team Manager


Position Type: Permanent full time, 40 hrs/week - May require some evening and weekend work

Compensation: $65,000-$70,000

Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Clean Team (CT) department’s people processes and operations, ensuring ERP associates are set up to be successful at MP and in any future employment opportunities. The Clean Team Manager (CTM) will refine and develop processes with feedback from staff, associates, and customers to ensure our department’s growth is rooted in the needs of our community. Consequently, your expertise in property maintenance and street cleaning needs, along with strong leadership abilities and dedication to delivering exceptional customer service, will be key to the success of our team. 

Working Conditions
The Clean Team Manager will report to the Director of Opportunities. This role is team-based and will work alongside other MP Enterprise teams and other departments. Work will take place both within and outside of MP’s offices and warehouse, either on a driving or walking route. The CTM will be expected to report to work in all weather conditions, including sun, rain, and snow. Needs of the team may at times require some evening and weekend work.

Key Areas of Accountabilities and Responsibilities:


  • Supervise and mentor a team of CT associates, technicians, and supervisors to perform top notch street cleaning services
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and a strong work ethic among the team
  • Facilitate 1 on 1 and team meetings with staff
  • Training: Provide training to technicians and associates. Teach and model skills such as time management and conflict resolution
  • People Process:
    • Create onboarding plan and ensure ongoing development of Clean Team staff
    • Manage the performance process of the Clean Team staff and associates, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations with their supervisors. This includes working with the People & Culture Coordinator to identify areas for improvement, provide support and development opportunities, and implement disciplinary procedures as appropriate
    • Conduct quarterly conversations and annual reviews with direct reports
  • Strategic Planning and Project Management:
    • Set annual goals and quarterly rocks with the Clean Team
    • Lead the Executive Advisory Committee, report back to LT about associates needs, and propose changes to ensure appropriate response/action is taken
    • Work with Director of Opportunities on submitting grants and RFPs to CoV

Clean Team Services

  • Service Delivery: Drive teams to job sites and perform CT tasks as needed. Assess the job site to determine and communicate the most suitable actions necessary to complete the scope of work safely, efficiently, and on schedule
  • Admin: Coordinate with the Ops Admin Team with scheduling of services, ensuring timely response to service requests, efficient deployment of resources, and creating continuous improvement. Assist the CT Senior Supervisors with maintaining timesheets on Payworks
  • Operations: Maintain accurate service records and generate reports as needed, including service statistics, customer feedback, and budget expenditures. Provide service quotes to customers and Coordinate with the Sales Manager
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular site inspections to assess the effectiveness of services delivered and make adjustments as needed
  • Safety: Take time to share with your team methods, techniques, and safe equipment use
    • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations, ensuring the proper use, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials

Customer relationships

  • Provide exceptional customer service, including addressing client inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring client satisfaction
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, fostering repeat business and referrals

Employment Readiness Program

  • Work as required with the ERP team to increase participants work readiness preparation, program retention rate and sustained transitions
  • Manage hiring of associates for short term contracts
  • Develop and implement training modules and Clean Team related workshops to prepare associates for Enterprise work experience

Education & Experience

  • Managerial or supervisory experience
  • Experience working in social services or a non-profit organization is an asset
  • Completion of or a willingness to complete: OFA1 first aid, Mental Health First Aid, Overdose Prevention and Response, Trauma Informed Practice training, Coaching training
  • Experience working in the DTES community is an asset
  • Or the equivalent combination of related skills and experience
